Midnight Soul is dedicated to underground house music of all flavors: deep, soulful, dirty, disco, electro, acid, funky and all points in between. I created this site share dj mixes with friends, family, and all the other house music lovers out there. The site is very simple to use — you can listen to the mixes online or download the MP3 files and do what you want with them.
I hope you find joy in the music that has shaped my life and continues to influence me every day.

On May 24, 2009 a bunch of friends rallied the NINJA disco bus from San Francisco to Shoreline Amphitheatre to see Janes Addiction and Nine Inch Nails – a nationwide tour so eloquently dubbed, the NINJA tour (Nine Inch Nails & Janes Addiction). It was an incredible concert that paved the way for a stellar after party. This set was recorded live at the after party and contains a nice collection of house tracks: soulful, funky, and a little tech house to bring it all together. Aside from the fact that I played the same song twice (because Big Mike wasn’t listening) it’s a fine set.
Enjoy.

Burning Man 2009 – what started as a tag team session between myself and Matt Kramer turned in to a 2 hour solo mission at the Rock Bottom camp. Zach Moore (Gough Street Sessions) was kind enough to record the last 45 minutes of my set and post it on his website.
This is a driving house music set and the song selection is a bit disjointed; but hey, it was Saturday afternoon at Burning Man… what do you expect?!
Enjoy.

Mixed Signals is a soulful house mix recorded at the Clubb House in November of 2008. My vision for this project was to explore a different style of soulful house music – one with a chunkier, more progressive sound that is energetic and beautiful but doesn’t teeter on the heavy electro and techno sounds that are so prevalent in today’s club scene.
The first twenty minutes of the mix are deep and soulful with a slow progression in to the sound that I’ve been enthralled with for the past couple years. This deep, chunky sound has been around for a while with support from legendary producers like Quentin Harris, Ralf Gum, Mr. V, Copy Right, Sandy Rivera, Chocolate Puma, Dj Disciple, David Penn, Soul Avengerz, Joey Negro, Mood II Swing, Dj Spen, and King Unique.
Enjoy.

To keep the music flowing on Midnight Soul I’ve enlisted the help of a friend, Dj Rooz. Well known in the San Francisco underground as one of the hardest working dj/promoters, Rooz has graciously provided this fantastic downtempo mix that incorporates electronic beats, jazz, funk, soul and minimal techno into an hour and sixteen minute melodic journey.
In addition to his musical talents, Dj Rooz keeps the SF underground well informed about upcoming parties, events, and the latest music to hit the streets through his frequently updated website.

This is a banging disco house set that may cause serious physical and psychological side effects. I recommend caution! The mixing is absurd, the track selection is over the top, and there are parts of the mix that could cause epileptic seizures.
All that aside, it was a lot of fun to make! We don’t hear much disco house in our circles anymore so I have to resort to bangin’ it out in the privacy of my own home. Yes, I’m still talking about house music…
And one day while viciously throwing down on his box Jack boldly declared LET THERE BE HOUSE! And house music was born. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you’re deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body and as I told you before this is our house and our house music.
I pulled tracks from a number of legendary house producers that used to rock the disco tracks back in the day — Carl Cox, Olav Basoski, Robbie Rivera, Antoine Clamaran, Dj Disciple, and Richard “Humpty” Vission and many others. The ‘90s were an awesome time for funky ass house music… here’s a little reminder.
Enjoy.

To start, I’d like to say thank you to all who pitched in for my amazing birthday gift last month. It’s only been a few weeks since I started playing on my CDJ 1000’s but I can honestly say that I’ve never been more inspired to DJ. Had I known playing CD’s was this much fun I would have hung up the vinyl years ago. So, thank you! Especially to the love of my life and the mastermind behind the gift — you’re the best Tina!
As for my latest house mix, it was created for a close group of friends born in November (hence the name) and played at Pink with Franky Boissy and Jojo Flores.
Enjoy.

Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable NYE. I spent the evening with a small group of friends at Kelly’s Mission Rock in San Francisco. We had the privilege of watching D:FUSE work his magic until the wee hours of the morning. If you haven’t seen him live, I highly recommend it. He’s an amazing performer and never fails to turn it out.
Well, it’s a new year so I thought I’d start things off with a spiritual rant to go along with my latest deep house mix. For those of you who don’t know 2007 marked the end of the Zodiac calendar’s 12 year cycle. What does this mean you ask? How does this relate to Midnight Soul or anything else for that matter? Well, I was born in 1972, so according to Chinese astrology, 2008 is my year! It’s the beginning of a new 12 year cycle… a time for change, new opportunities, and challenges. I don’t hold much stock in astrology but I am looking forward to making 2008 the best year ever!
And with that I give you an uplifting deep house set called ‘Year of the Rat’.
Enjoy.

A lot of the mixed cd’s I create have a tendency to wander off shortly after they’re made. This one, in particular, was recorded live in 2003 and never saw the light of day. To our surprise, it showed up at a friends house on NYE ’07 and brought back so many good memories that I decided to share it with the rest of you.
It’s a full blown disco house mix with plenty of anthems, vocals, and a few remixes.
Enjoy.
